Wellness for Women Survivors Project

Community | Connection | Compassion

Funded by the National Lottery Community Fund to provide:

  • Evidence based, trauma informed, authentic Yoga for Women survivors

  • Weekly drop-in holistic health and wellbeing workshops

    The project aims to:

    Bring women together in a safe, trauma informed, compassionate space, where there will be opportunities to share experiences and build a community of support through the wonderful practices of Yoga and holistic therapies.

Both services are delivered by Eloise, who is a qualified Yoga teacher, trained in Yoga therapy skills for PTSD, with over 10 years experience supporting and advocating for women who experienced violence and abuse, and Anisha, who is a trained GP, with over 10 years experience in primary care.


Yoga for Survivors

The course aims to give women opportunities to:

  • establish presence and grounding

  • develop resources, find inner strength and build resilience

  •  find a reconnection with the body and mind in a way that feels safe and comfortable

  • exercise their choice to move and breathe in a way that feels comfortable

  • allow for a connection with others in a safe space

  • increase feelings of self kindness and compassion and self acceptance

  • ease feelings of stress, anxiety, depression and trauma

  • empower women with the knowledge of yoga practices to use for self care in their everyday awareness

  • find a sense of ease, stability and safety in their body

Yoga for Survivors is an 8 week programme based on a traditional hatha style of Yoga, encompassing movement (hatha and some somatic), breathwork, mindfulness and meditation, designed with evidence based practices aimed to support women manage their experience of trauma.

At OMpower Community Yoga, we support women’s choices and consent; women can opt out of any suggested practices at anytime. There will be no hands on assists on this course.

We hope to offer women a nurturing and compassionate space to explore the therapeutic benefits of Yoga in a safe, empowering and an accessible way.

Weekly drop-in holistic health and wellness workshops

Weekly drop-in holistic health and wellness workshops for women who experience trauma and other mental health challenges. The drop-in will provide mind- body practices and holistic therapies, including Yoga, mindfulness, meditation, breathwork, Acupuncture, Indian head massage, Reflexology, and Ayurveda – aimed to support women’s recovery on a longer term basis. The drop-in can be a wonderful opportunity to come together, share experiences and support each other, whilst experiencing a variety of practices to support emotional and physical wellbeing.

Nod y prosiect yw:

Dod â menywod at ei gilydd mewn gofod diogel, tosturiol a gwybodus am drawma, lle bydd cyfleoedd i rannu profiadau ac adeiladu cymuned o gefnogaeth trwy arferion gwych Ioga a therapïau cyfannol.

 

Darperir y ddau wasanaeth gan Eloise, sy’n athrawes Ioga cymwys, sydd wedi’i hyfforddi mewn sgiliau therapi Ioga ar gyfer PTSD ac sydd â thros 10 mlynedd o brofiad yn cefnogi ac yn eiriol dros fenywod sydd wedi profi trais a chamdriniaeth; ac Anisha, sy’n feddyg teulu hyfforddedig, gyda thros 10 blynyddoedd o brofiad mewn gofal sylfaenol.

Rhaglen 8 wythnos yn seiliedig ar arddull traddodiadol hatha o ioga, sy’n cwmpasu symudiad, gwaith anadl, ymwybyddiaeth ofalgar a myfyrdod. Wedi’i ddylunio gydag arferion sy’n seiliedig ar dystiolaeth gyda’r nod o gefnogi menywod i reoli eu profiad o drawma.

Yn OMpower Community Yoga, rydym yn cefnogi dewisiadau a chydsyniad menywod; gall menywod optio allan o unrhyw arferion a awgrymir ar unrhyw adeg. Ni fydd unrhyw gynorthwywyr ymarferol ar y cwrs hwn.

  • datblygu sgiliau ymdopi, dod o hyd i gryfder mewnol, ac adeiladu gwydnwch

  • cynyddu teimladau o hunangaredigrwydd a thosturi a hunandderbyn

  • lleddfu teimladau o straen, gorbryder, iselder a thrawma

  • grymuso menywod gyda'r wybodaeth am arferion ioga i'w defnyddio ar gyfer hunanofal yn eu hymwybyddiaeth bob dydd

  • dod o hyd i ymdeimlad o rwyddineb, sefydlogrwydd a diogelwch yn eu corff
